You will someday [May. 4th, 2012|03:13 pm]

"But it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday."

American Beauty. An all-time favourite.

It's all about dreaming and wanting and aching and breakthrough and breakdown; finally getting what you want
and realising you could never handle it to begin with.

everybody must have a fantasy.

Stop the Traffic [Apr. 26th, 2012|11:24 pm]

This is one of the best campaign advertisements I've seen in a long time. Prostitution may be one of the oldest professions in the world, but the sad and honest truth is that prostitution and trafficking are interlinked and do fuel each other to an extent.

Even though this topic has been discussed ad nauseum, I still believe that as long as there aren't effective preventive measures to prevent girls from being trafficked and forced into prostitution, the trade should not be allowed to exist, or the very least, it should be monitored fastidiously. Regardless of the demand for these services, there's simply no justification for exploiting another human being who had plans and dreams to live their own life.

I'm really glad that I came across this video before my trip to Amsterdam in June, because it gives me a deeper insight to how and why some of the working girls may have ended up in the Red Light District.
